Greater Comfort
Sedation helps you stay calm and at ease, creating a peaceful experience so anxiety and discomfort are significantly reduced throughout your visit.

Anxiety affects millions of people each day. When it comes to visiting the dentist’s office, it can cause patients to avoid necessary treatment. Our skilled surgeons and nurses at our office want to change this by providing a first class sedation experience for you at Landmark Dental Studio. Apart from our commitment to building a practice that is patient-centered and welcoming to all, we strive to make every experience a positive and comfortable one. If you suffer from dental anxiety and need help to overcome your concerns, call our office today.

Oral conscious sedation involves taking a prescribed medication suggested by our team. On the day of your visit, you will take it before your appointment, resulting in a more relaxed state when you arrive. It’s necessary to have someone drive you to and from your appointment, as the effects take time to wear off. Throughout your treatment, you won’t feel any pain or anxiety, as your senses will be dulled because of the medication.

Nitrous oxide is viewed as the mildest form of sedation and is commonly referred to as “laughing gas.” Its effects produce a calming and comfortable experience; however, it does not result in full sedation. Should you need nitrous oxide, you’ll be instructed to wear a nasal mask and inhale the gas to feel more at ease while in the treatment chair. When finished, we will remove the mask, and the effects will immediately begin to wear off, allowing you to resume normal activity following your appointment.
IV sedation is the most powerful relaxation technique available in our Greenwood Village office. We administer medication directly into your bloodstream, where it can quickly take effect and help you to have an easy, stress-free appointment. We often reserve this provision for patients who have moderate to severe anxiety or who need particularly lengthy or invasive procedures. Because its effects can linger for several hours, you will need to make plans to take it easy for a day or so after your appointment.
To administer IV dental sedation, we place a small needle in your hand or arm. Through it, we administer a carefully calculated dose of sedative. Midazolam and Diazepam are often used for IV sedation, but other medications can also be used.
You should start to feel the effects of the sedation within minutes. Although this method is sometimes called “sleep dentistry,” it does not actually cause unconsciousness. Although you will feel extremely relaxed, you will remain able to respond to questions and directions from our team.
We will carefully monitor you throughout your appointment to make adjustments to your sedative dose and make sure you are safe.

Our team will also take your medical history to screen you for contraindications for sedation. For example, you may not be a good candidate if you are pregnant or have certain allergies or respiratory conditions.
