Biannual cleanings and checkups are important for people of all ages, including kids! During these appointments, we will thoroughly examine your child’s oral tissues and assess the development of their oral structures. We will also thoroughly clean their mouth and provide tailored advice on home care. Silver Diamine Fluoride Treatment
You probably already know about regular fluoride treatment; it is a preventive measure that helps to strengthen teeth. Silver diamine fluoride is a bit different. It is intended to stop cavities that have already formed. Instead of drilling into the decayed area to place a filling, we simply apply silver diamine fluoride. It prevents the decay from worsening and reduces sensitivity. This drill-free approach is great for kids who are nervous about treatment or who have special needs that make it difficult for them to sit still for long periods of time.
Early Orthodontic Treatment
Did you know that all kids should undergo an orthodontic evaluation by the time they turn 7? Yes, this early assessment can identify developmental issues and help to guide growth of the oral structures. Our on-staff orthodontist, Dr. Hoggan, may use a variety of appliances for early orthodontic treatment, such as limited braces, palatal expanders, space maintainers, and more. Keep in mind that timely care may reduce the need for more extensive orthodontic treatment in the future.
